not joking. graphics-wise, almost any game on the market today beats continuum. no one can argue that the graphics are dated. if graphics are all you care about, go play another game. but the sheer playability (and replayability) is second to none. i have never played a game that has kept me so interested over so many years. i really enjoyed games like diablo, c&c, and counterstrike. but let's face it-- after a while, those games get old, and some company eventually rehashes the same game with the same play style with better graphics and better gameplay. continuum is totally different. don't be fooled by its incredibly simplistic-looking 2-d interface. the different gameplay scenarios are endless. you like 1 on 1 fighting? continuum has it. smaller team action like 4 on 4? no problem. you against the other 50 people in the playing arena? check. massive free-for-all games with with 90 people simultaneously? yup. let me tell you what i thought, the first time i saw this game. it was back in 1995 or so. i saw my roommate playing it on my pc, and i said "what kind of stupid game is that? why don't you play command & conquer instead? that looks sooooo dumb." then he said, "yeah, it looks dumb...but you have to try it. i've been playing for 6 hours, and i can't stop." you simply have to try it. don't discard it after playing it for 1, 2, or even 3 hours. get used to it and try to understand the way the game works and how to get better. everyone who plays continuum goes through a terribly frustrating learning curve and dies hundreds of times before they begin to understand how it all works. and once you start getting better, you can bet that you'll be playing for a long, long time. this game has far greater staying power than other games. i've played all the cool games. i have my fun the quakes, diablos, and warcrafts. they're really great fun for a few weeks...even a few months. but in the end, i always go back to subspace. it's simply the best. oh....and the chat interface makes the game extremely cool, too. once you get used to it, it becomes second nature. you can have a 8 or 9 chat channels with 10 people on each channel, if you want. someone mentioned that "only geeks play this game." well, you're partially right. there are a lot of geeks who play this game. surprisingly, there are a lot of very normal people who are closet continuum addicts. they play continuum and get their kicks killing people from all over the world. and then they go back to their daily lives. (yes, you know who you are...) ;-) bottom line: this game is extremely fun and extremely addictive once you understand how to play it. but you can only enjoy it if you try it out and give it a chance. have fun, gland ps - play this game at your own risk. once you start enjoying it, you will be addicted.

is this an upgrade? supposedly, google chrome does an upgrade automatically. if you click on tools/about chrome, it says whether it is up to date. mine says google chrome up to date (1.0.154.48)

gotta say, i think this is a bad idea from microsoft. windows 7 is a great operating system and has run everything i've thrown at it without needing a virtual xp.i also feel it is going to slow down the adoption of 64 bit in retail as many companies will say 'keep using the old 32 bit version in xp mode" rather than fork out to make new drivers, ect.we need to completely break with the past, it really is time that 32 bit software was abandoned. hopefully windows 8 will only be available in 64 bit, and it won't have any kind of backwards compatibility with 32 bit applications.

audio quality is good. equalizer has a sufficient number of bands with good db range. but it cuts off every song about two seconds before the end, which is really annoying. more disturbing, when it reached the end of my playlist, it tried to shut down my computer! i will be removing it until the bugs are worked out.

first, i've used acdsee pro for years. second, dxo optics is my main processing program. third, i don't like lightroom though i have it and use it occasionally. acdsee pro is a great program. the best for browsing. very good for processing though it lacks some of what dxo offers.acdsee pro is 0. dxo is 0 to 9. lightroom 3 is 5 at amazon today.acdsee pro is 61 mb. dxo is 105 mb. lightroom is 162mb.the only reason to use dxo over acdsee pro is that dxo automatically corrects for my specific camera and lens combination. i haven't used acdsee beta 4 enough to see if it has added that feature but it used to require manual correction.acdsee pro is not bloated. it is a great piece of software. always has been and still is. i process thousands of photos and use it regularly to catalogue, view and process raw files. i'd say you can't go wrong with this program.
